  • The perfect place for a relaxing getaway for two in high-end luxury accommodation. Lovingly restored in 2019, this delightful one bedroom Victorian cottage is tucked away in a quiet mews off of South Green in the heart of the popular coastal town of Southwold. Only a 2 minute walk to the High Street and Southwold beach, this is the perfect location for any couple looking to enjoy the beautiful Suffolk coast and beyond.

    On the ground floor the property boasts a beautiful master bedroom. A luxury velvet bed takes centre stage in the room. The bathroom is also found on the ground floor and the luxury extends through to this room with a roll top bath, and overhead rain shower cubicle facilities. With built-in Sonos speakers in each room, including the bathroom, this is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

    Up on the first floor you find the light and airy living area, cleverly designed making the most of the space. The DeVol kitchen is newly fitted with all Miele appliances and equipment you will need to make the most of your self-catering experience, such as Riedel glassware, Burleigh crockery, Wüsthof knives, Le Creuset cookware, and Masterclass bakeware. A dining table and chairs for two also in this room give the opportunity for guests to sit and enjoy a romantic meal together! The wood-burning stove and comfortable sofas make Mole End ideal for cosy winter breaks also. In the lounge is a Samsung Frame Smart TV hidden in plain sight! When not in use it senses you are in the room and displays a piece of art or photography. No unsightly TV spoiling the interior! Our guests have full control over what art is displayed. It is also pretty good as a TV too, including Freeview, Apple TV, Netflix, and other broadcasting apps. So if a quiet night in front of the tele is in order, there's plenty to chose from. Throughout the house we have a wired Sonos sound system. The easiest thing to do is to use our iPad provided to play radio and stream music. Alternatively you can use an app on your smartphone or tablet. You can then play your personal music collection through the app.

Entrance Hall: storage for coats & shoes. Miele washing machine, Miele tumble dryer, Brabantia ironing board, iron, Dyson handheld vacuum all neatly tucked away in the hallway cupboard.

Bedroom: Double bed with Hypnos mattress, storage for clothing, storage cupboard for luggage, hotel-grade 200 thread count 100% Cotton Percale white linen bed linen, hypoallergenic duvet and pillows, towels, and bathrobes included. Dyson Supersonic hairdryer also provided. Each bedside has an overhead reading light. Blackout curtains ensure you can have a well deserved lie-in.

Bathroom: Albion roll-top bath with handheld shower, separate overhead rain shower, basin and WC. Bramley toiletries provided.

Additional details

Parking: On street parking opposite on Constitution Hill or Gardner Road. Guests can drive onto courtyard in the mews to drop off luggage.

Children: Travel cot with extra mattress and bedsheet and highchair available upon request. In the kitchen are baby bowls and spoons. Traditional games such as Monopoly and Scrabble, puzzles and deck of cards provided. We also have a Nintendo Switch available for you to enjoy, preloaded with Super Mario Bros U Deluxe.

Pets: Dogs welcome – not allowed in the bedroom please. Dog bowl provided.

Heating: Under floor heating throughout - each bedroom and living space has an individually controlled zone using Nest thermostats. Additionally in each room is a Dyson Hot/Cold fan, which can provide a lovely cooling breeze during the summer and an extra bit of warm if you need it in winter.

Safety: Landline telephone. Nest smoke and carbon monoxide detectors throughout. Nest doorbell. Police monitored burglar alarm. Approved BASC safe. Mole End is a non-smoking property.

Tech provided: Superfast fibre broadband and WiFi throughout. Built-in whole house sound system controlled from your own devices or iPad provided using Sonos app. Apple TV.

When we both first visited Southwold, it was love at first sight. We were immediately captured by its old school charm and quintessential Englishness, and knew we had to buy somewhere here so this special place could be a part of our lives forever. We are so pleased to be able to share our Southwold home with you. Here are some great websites to find out more about Southwold and the local area:

  • Southwold beach is the jewel in Southwold's crown. Sometimes we walk along it and forget we are in the UK at all! When the sun is shining, setting up camp on the beach for a day of sandcastle building and paddling in the sea is a joy. Sometimes just a bottle of rose, two glasses and a picnic rug is all you need! We also love walking on the beach in all weathers and temperatures - if you have a good coat and wellies! Children and dogs alike adore the beach! Space to run and so much to explore! All year round dogs are allowed off lead on the southernmost part of the beach from the last beach hut to the harbour. During Winter the whole beach is dog friendly, but during the summer (1st May to 30th September) the beach from the pier along the promenade to the last beach hut is a dog free zone, although you can walk your dog on a lead on the promenade itself.
